Tool reference

The connector exposes these tools. Read tools need moola:read; write tools need moola:write. Names are stable; assistants pick them by description.

Reading

Tool	Returns
moola_get_overview	Net worth, assets and liabilities by category, how many accounts are linked or manual, the milestone, and whether any bank connection needs attention.
moola_list_accounts	Every account with its category, kind, balance in US dollars, and whether it is linked or manual.
moola_get_history	Daily history of net worth, a category total, or one account over a period, with start and end values and the change. Downsampled to at most 120 points.
moola_list_transactions	Transactions from the last 13 months with filters and paging. Positive amounts are money out, negative are money in.
moola_spending_summary	Totals for a period: spent, income, net, the same for the period before, spending by category with shares, top merchants, and per-week or per-month series.
moola_get_health	The deterministic health assessment: score, grade, the six pillars with their findings and the numbers behind them.
moola_get_rules	The current-year rulebook the checks use, each rule with its source.
moola_get_plan	The plan currently saved in Health, with recommendation ids and their done or dismissed state.
moola_list_actions	Planned money moves with status: open, done, verified (Moola saw the balances move), or cancelled.

Writing

moola_set_account_kind	Labels an account with what it is. Works for linked and manual accounts; the kind must fit the account's category.
moola_add_manual_account	Adds an account whose balance is entered by hand. Liabilities are given as a positive amount owed. Can be marked private.
moola_update_manual_balance	Sets today's balance of a manual account. Linked accounts are refused.
moola_remove_manual_account	Removes a manual account. Earlier daily snapshots are kept. Assistants are told to confirm with you first.
moola_set_milestone	Sets the net-worth target shown in Goals.
moola_update_transaction	Recategorizes a transaction, adds or clears a note, or excludes it from totals.
moola_create_merchant_rule	"Always file this merchant under this category." Re-files past transactions you have not categorized by hand.
moola_save_plan	Stores a plan in Health in the coach's shape: headline, summary, strengths, up to six recommendations, open questions.
moola_set_recommendation_state	Marks a recommendation done, dismissed, or open again.
moola_create_action	Records a concrete move you agreed to make at your bank, so Moola can remind you and confirm it from balances.
moola_update_action	Marks a planned action done, cancelled, or open again.

Conventions

• Money is in US dollars as decimals in tool output and input. Moola stores cents internally and rounds on the way in.
• Dates are ISO YYYY-MM-DD. Periods accept the same presets as the app, or a start and end date.
• Ids for accounts, transactions, recommendations, and actions are opaque strings returned by the read tools.
• Errors come back as tool errors with a plain-language message, for example when a write targets a linked balance or a scope is missing.

Prompts

The server also publishes a health review prompt that walks an assistant through reading the assessment and rulebook, asking you what it needs to, and saving a plan with moola_save_plan. In Claude it appears in the connector's prompt list.
