Add accounts
Manual balances, and homes added by address.
Every balance in Moola is an account. Linked accounts come from your bank through Plaid; manual accounts are ones you keep yourself. Both show up in the same lists and charts.
Manual accounts
From Accounts, or the + button in the header, choose Add account and pick a type:
| Type | Examples |
|---|---|
| Cash | Checking, savings, a high-yield account, cash on hand |
| Investments | Brokerage, 401(k), IRA, Roth IRA, HSA, crypto |
| Property | A home, a car, anything you own outright or with a loan |
| Debt | Mortgage, student loan, car loan, a credit card you track by hand |
Give it a name, a balance, and a kind. The kind (checking, Roth IRA, mortgage, and so on) tells the Health checks how to treat it, so pick the closest match.
Amounts are stored in whole cents. Enter a balance any time you check it; each edit writes a point in the account's history, so the net-worth chart follows along.
Homes by address
For a home, Moola can look up the value for you. Choose Add account → Home, type the street address, and confirm the public-record match. You will see the property type, size, year built, last sale, tax assessment, and the owner on record so you can be sure it is the right house. The owner name is shown once and not stored.
Moola then adds the home at its automated value estimate, with the likely range and the comparable sales behind it. Auto-tracked homes are revalued once a week. If you would rather set the value yourself, switch the home to a manual value at any time; you can switch back later.
Lookups come from RentCast and are budgeted per person: ten address lookups a day and five auto-tracked homes.
Editing and removing
Open any account to rename it, change its kind, update a manual balance, or mark it private (see Families). Linked balances are owned by the bank connection and cannot be edited by hand, but linked accounts can still be renamed and given a kind.
Removing a manual account removes its history too. Removing a linked account is done by disconnecting the institution in Settings → Bank connections.
